One should realise that in the allegations of such serious matters, subject matter and substance become the same thing. It is quite shocking that, without any evidence, Krishna Kalpit has already been convicted by some man-hating feminist instruments of the status quo culture. I have not read all but a few posts, but none of them contained any evidence in support of their defamation campaign. I have known Krishna Kalpit since he was a PG student at Raj Uni in the late 70s, and I was a lecturer at Maharani’s College. We used to have weekend get-togethers at my place with journalists. Writers. Ports and actors and zkslpit used to read his poem in a melodious voice. I suspect many young women used to hit on him rather than the other way around. I was subjected to a lot of gossip, but in RUTA’s elections, I received 234 votes and over 75% votes from female faculty members. Quite a few female colleagues used to shake hands, and those who were exposed to Western culture even gave me hugs. I felt more comfortable than they. Recently, I was invited to give a lecture at the Golden Jubilee of RUWA, in which I explained the differences between the discrimination laws in the US &UK and in toothless law in India. Kalpit has an international exposure, and his disposition may appear different due to cultural differences. Unfortunately, some self-righteous people with a tainted mindset are trying out the cart before the horse. I unequivocally condemn the disparaging campaign against Krishna Kalpit. I suspect some of his accusers see themselves in what they have done in their lives. In my view, he has done the right thing to issue a show cause for defamation so that the truth can come out on the surface and become visible.
My advice to Kalpit is to follow Lord Bernard Shaw, “they say, what they say and let them say,” and Oscar Wilde said, “Apathy is the best form of aggression.”
